intended to provide information on and access to national and statewide
smoking cessation hotlines and/or helplines. Many of the statewide
hotlines/helplines are available only to residents of that state, and for
most of them, access to the number is available only when calling from a
phone number in that state.
The listings below are made available for informational purposes only. The listing of these services is in no way an express or implied endorsement or recommendation of these services by The Center for Social Gerontology nor does it constitute a verification of the quality of the services.
American Cancer SocietyNational Cancer Institute
The ACS offers information on local cessation programs and provides smoking cessation literature.
The National Cancer Institute provides literature on smoking cessation. While they provide individuals to go over the literature with callers, they are not trained counselors.

Vermont Smokers Quitline
This Quitline provides a range of services including up to six sessions of proactive telephone counseling to individuals during their quit attempt.
Washington State Quit Line
(only for those in WV with Medicaid or Public Employess Insurance Agency insurance)
This cessation program offers pharmacologic services, 5-6 one-on-one phone coach calls, and individualized smoking cessation literature.
Wisconsin Tobacco Quitline
The Quit Line offers counseling treatment for smokers who want to quit, information for individuals concerned about another's tobacco use, self-help materials for those interested in quitting, and referrals to local smoking cessation programs and services. Trained smoking cessation specialists will help individuals plan their quit attempt and call them back during their quit attempt and up to one year afterward to provide help and support.
